Has anyone had hemorrhagic corpus luteum ovarian cyst drained vaginally? If you did, can you describe how it is done, how much pain, if you had anestisia and why the doctor chose to drain it instead of wait for it to go away by itself?

I had a cyst drained — not sure of the technical name for it. I was put under general anesthesia, and the doc aspirated the cyst with a needle. It was totally painless, took about an hour, and I was back at work the next day. We waited a month for it to go away while I was on the Lupron (suppression) phase of an IVF cycle. It didn’t shrink at all during that time. We didn’t want to hold up the IVF cycle any longer, and I couldn’t stay on the suppression drugs any longer without compromising the cycle, so we went with the needle aspiration.
